The Guild
Although I am by no means a gamer, knowing virtually nothing about World of Warcraft, I still found Felicia Day's web series "The Guild" to be rather enjoyable. I do work for a web channel, Venice the Menace, which deals with short webisodes and video segments of a similar length to those in "The Guild." I believe I read that Day had originally intended the first several segments as a pilot for a TV show, but changed to the webseries format after working on Joss Whedon's "Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog" during the writer's strike. I personally feel that the series works very well in this format of short, 3 to 6 minute webisodes. It's fun to have an entertaining series of short videos to watch either all together or one or a couple at a time. It seems that many writers' answer to the writer's strike were these direct-to-internet videos, which is a great way to reach a wider audience, hooking them with little tastes of what they have to offer. As a devoted fan of ABC's "LOST," I loved their "Missing Pieces" webisodes that filled in little stories not covered in the regular show episodes that aired on TV. Even though the characters have very little to do with me, I would still say that I got into "The Guild" enough that I will stay tuned for Season 2.
